Balancing Handcrafted Warmth with Modern Design Restraint

East Fork is a certified B Corp known for its focus on craft, community investment, and thoughtful production, including a commitment to paying manufacturing workers a living wage. As a staff designer, I supported the in-house creative team across digital, retail, and campaign communications—applying and extending the brand system across new channels and touchpoints.

My work helped expand the company’s reach while preserving the warmth, materiality, and human presence central to the brand.

A Restrained Visual System with a Human Core

A Restrained Visual System with a Human Core

East Fork’s visual brand combined warm, muted colors with minimal layouts and intentional photography. Consistent use of these elements helped customers quickly recognize the brand and understand what to expect—from product quality to tone of communication—across retail, packaging, and digital channels. The system emphasized texture, material, and process, allowing the work to feel inviting, modern, and rooted in craft.

Using Photography to Bring Craft to Life

Using Photography to Bring Craft to Life

Styled photography played a central role in shaping East Fork’s visual voice. Working alongside the creative team and lead photographers, I supported concept development, shot planning, and integration of imagery across packaging, web, and marketing deliverables.

Featuring employees and makers within the imagery highlighted the people responsible for the product itself, reinforcing the company’s transparency around process and craft and helping customers better understand how the work is made.
Elaborate, often playful styled photography played a central role in shaping East Fork’s visual voice. I collaborated with the creative team to develop concepts and determine how imagery would support broader brand deliverables.

By frequently including people from within the company, the photography reinforced a sense of warmth, authenticity, and human connection.

Turning Social Media into a Space for Play and Connection

Animation, short-form video, and collaborative content were used to expand East Fork’s social channels beyond product promotion. I developed and produced motion-based posts, including floating pottery videos, the Pottery Peep Show series, and stop-motion collaborations, introducing movement and narrative into the brand’s digital presence.

These projects helped communicate material qualities, process, and personality in formats suited to social platforms, increasing engagement while keeping the focus on the objects themselves.

A clickable Mailchimp® newsletter that looks just like a newspaper

Concept: Transform a standard promotional email into an editorial reading experience. The goal was to slow scanning behavior and encourage exploration by making the newsletter feel like a physical object rather than a marketing blast.

Execution: The newsletter was designed as a single composed “front page” and then divided into multiple stacked image sections within Mailchimp. Each section functioned as a clickable article, linking to different product pages, brand content, and interactive features. The structure guided readers to choose what to explore instead of scrolling past content.

A Layered Web Experience Built Around Story

The website paired styled photography with layered layouts and varied compositions to guide exploration. I helped translate brand storytelling into web structure—organizing seasonal glazes, staff features, and community initiatives into clear navigational pathways while preserving an editorial feel.

The result was a site that communicated product, process, and people without sacrificing usability, allowing customers to understand both what East Fork makes and how it is made.

Making Transparency Visual

Making Transparency Visual

Making Transparency Visual

Problem: East Fork publicly shares financial performance, but raw accounting data is difficult for most customers to interpret.

Approach: Working directly with the CFO, I translated quarterly financial reports into a clear visual system for the website. Complex figures were reorganized into diagrams, iconography, and short explanatory captions

Result: The CFO’s Corner made company finances understandable to a general audience, showing how revenue was allocated across production, wages, operations, and donations while reinforcing trust through transparency.
